Wrap-up: Web Summit 2019

November 4-7, 2019 in Lisbon, Portugal

Web Summit 2019 took place in Lisbon for four days, at the Altice Arena & Fil from November 4-7. The event gathered the founders and CEOs of technology companies, fast-growing startups, policymakers and heads of state with the aim of answering one question: where to next?

Mats Lundquist, CEO, Telenor Connexion, summarizes his experiences at the tech conference. “This was the second time that I participated at the Web Summit. This year the event attracted leading tech enterprises, start-ups and investors as well as around 70,000 attendees. There was plenty of interesting discussions on how technology can positively impact the sustainability challenge but also a lot of concerns regarding ethics and responsible AI. Two speakers that contrasted each other on that topic were Edward Snowden and Guo Ping, Chairman of Huawei”.

Further Lundquist says “I have personally been hosting a roundtable at the Corporate Innovation Summit with GE, Xerox and RWE about Monetising IoT. I was also participating in a panel about the secret code of digital transformation with a banking institution and two pharma companies. Participating at events like the Web Summit is an important way for Telenor Connexion to share our vision of the future and the pivotal role IoT will play in it. These events also serve as a forum to discuss and share ideas with the tech industry about how we can work together to create a better future. I look forward to engaging in similar discussions at other events soon”.
